A member of the SJC Group executive protection team, Peter Liota is a former United States marine and retired detective. During his spare time, Peter Liota stays connected to the community by volunteering for the Police Athletic League of New York City.
The Police Athletic League, known as PAL, creates an environment that allows city youth to learn, grow, and become contributing members of society. In addition to its after-school programs and summer day camps, PAL started PLAYSTREETS.
PLAYSTREETS dates back to 1914 and gives children the opportunity to play outdoors safely and under proper supervision. The initiative aims to deter temptation of bad choices by connecting kids with local New York Police Department precincts and fostering relationships with local officials. For approximately a month and a half, the program closes off public areas and streets to host summer activities. Whether recreational, developmental, or educational, the activities promote fitness, art, community advocacy, and life skills. To learn more about the program, visit www.palnyc.org.
