Prior to his current role as executive protection specialist for private security firm, SJC Group, Inc., Peter Liota was a decorated New York City Police Department (NYPD) detective. Peter Liota continues to serve his community by donating time to the Police Athletic League (PAL).
Founded in 1914, PAL is the largest, independent nonprofit youth organization in New York City and NYPD’s official youth agency. Each year, PAL reaches 30,000 New York City boys and girls providing social, cultural, and educational programs as well as recreation.
In early June 2016, PAL held its 8th Annual Junior Police Jamboree at the NYPD Candidate Assessment Center. The main participants were more than 150 “recruits,” children aged 8 to 12, coming from 20 PAL Centers throughout the five boroughs of New York City. The program consisted of a fair where the young “recruits” displayed projects showcasing community service and leadership qualities. After the presentations the youths took the Junior Police Pledge.
A leadership development program, PAL’s Junior Police Club creates good, genuine relationships among police officers and youths. It also imparts to young individuals a sense of obligation to serve their community.
