A former United States Marine and New York Police Department detective, Peter Liota serves as an executive protection specialist at SJC Group, Inc., a private security firm based in New York City. Alongside his activities as a security professional, Peter Liota gives back to the community through his support of the Police Athletic League (PAL).
In its efforts to support healthy youth development, PAL oversees a variety of programs and activities for young people between the ages of 2 and 24. Since its founding more than 100 years ago, the organization has worked closely with teens at its PAL Teen Centers, which are located throughout New York City.
Open three to five nights a week, PAL’s Teen Centers give youth ages 13 to 19 the opportunity to engage with their peers and adult role models through structured programming featuring athletic, academic, and social activities. Many sites also offer life-skills workshops and field trips to area attractions and events.
Additionally, PAL’s Teen Centers work in partnership with other organizations to provide employment opportunities and college prep services. Designed for participants between the ages of 14 and 24, PAL’s employment and college readiness programs help youth explore career opportunities, build financial literacy, and find available college scholarships.
